San Diego: Sisters Trip
359 miles, 5 hours 28 mins, & one potty break is what it took for my sister & I to get to San Diego. Being to California only twice before I didn’t know what to expect. Honestly, I wasn’t too excited for trashed streets & potholes but once I stepped out of the car & felt that breeze it easily became my favorite place.
We stayed in Downtown San Diego in the Gaslamp Quarter District, a historic urban playground full of Victorian architecture. Made up of shops, restaurants, & plenty of nightlife venues to enjoy.
During the day locals are all out & about at the farmer’s markets but during the night is where it comes to life for all the weekenders!
There was one thing I wanted to do the entire time there & that was to ride one of those electric scooters. What better way to explore the downtown area!? I was so excited that I downloaded the app ready to connect my card to rent one but the app wasn’t working. Couldn’t rent a scooter without it 🙁
This was the trips first bummer.
Our first destination was The San Diego Zoo! I ‘m usually not a huge fan of zoos due to the enclosure of perfectly healthy animals but I was so surprised by the size of not only the zoo itself but the cages too.
This place was clean, well kept, & the animals looked happy. Even my sister that is an avid animal lover enjoyed it, now that says a lot. Sadly, after 4 hours of walking the zoo, we had to leave early because of how tired from the 5-hour drive.
I may not be able to move here (any time soon) but I will return when I can just to lay on the beach! This was our last day stop & it was, in my opinion, the best place to be.
The water may have been freezing cold but we spent hours under our shade, dozing off to the sound of the waves, feeling the breeze in our hair. I’ve never known relaxation like that. I am not one to take many vacations, the last one I took was 2 years ago, July 2016. Being there without a care was the biggest gift I could have asked for. & I am beyond happy that I got to take it with my little big sister Suhey
Until our next vacation, maybe… Ireland??!
